ABOUT MODA WORKSHOP

In 2013-2014 fall semester, second year students of Department of Architecture in  Bahçeşehir University, were asked to analyze, research and design in Moda/Kadıköy district.

140 students taking architectural design studios Arc2001 and Arc2002, were divided in three groups each one focused on a different part of the peninsula. A pedestrian axis, which starts from the Moda port, continues on the shoreline and ends at Yoğurtçu Park, creates the outline where three project sites are located on.

Public life in the neighborhood, water-city relationship, topographical varieties and volunteer houses which are unique establishments to the region, were some of the subtopics of the design studio.

During the 8 weeks long project design process, students developed their design proposals and architectural ideas as a continuation of the output reached from the researches and analyses of the site.

Throughout the project design, instructors were in communication with the students for fruitful feedback to their studies and quires. The design process composed of pin-up juries, a mid jury, a final jury and an exhibition.

As a final outcome of the design studio an exhibition is held at the Beşiktaş Campus of Bahcesehir University on the 30th of December 2013
